I don’t know about you, but I’m a pretty skeptical person. I hardly ever accept things at face value, and even struggle to accept the so-called “truth” even when presented with a boat load of evidence. I think God at times finds it difficult to get through to me, but I’m his creation after all, so he must know that’s what he’s up against!
So how is it a person like St Matthew just up and walks away from his entire life based simply on a few words from Jesus? Did Matthew do this out of “blind” faith, or in fact, did he have his own sixth sense about who he was talking to? Either way, I wish I had a little more of what he had!
Today is the feast of St Matthew, my son’s namesake. So on this day I remember a saint and a son who both made their own leaps of fath, and I pray to both of them that they might share a little of their leaping abilities with me!
